RLS Logistics, a leading cold chain solutions provider, has pledged its support to Rowan University for the establishment of a new Certificate of Undergraduate Study in professional sales to be housed within the Rohrer College of Business. As a national company with deep local roots, RLS Logistics is not only investing in its own growth but also in the development of future sales professionals in its new home of Glassboro, New Jersey.
The Certificate in Professional Sales will equip students with a comprehensive understanding of personal selling, sales force management, business-to-business marketing, persuasion techniques, interpersonal communication, and nonverbal communication. John Gaudet, Chief Commercial Officer of RLS Logistics, emphasizes the importance of combining education with real-world experiences to prepare students for success beyond graduation. “Sales skills are transferable and can be applied in almost any industry,” says Gaudet. “Our intent is to grow the Sales Certificate program with other sponsored companies in a wide range of industries to offer students a more diverse career path.”
The motivation behind this generous initiative is to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing innovative programming and professional development opportunities. According to Interim Dean Morris Kalliny, this program fills a crucial void within the Rohrer College of Business. “We currently do not have a specialty in professional sales in any of our programs,” says Kalliny. “Given the abundance of excellent sales jobs in the market, this program will address a significant need and ensure our students are well-prepared for lucrative careers in sales.”
RLS Logistics, a leading cold chain 3PL company with warehouses and freight brokerage offices in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Utah, New York, and Tennessee, recognizes the fundamental role sales plays in organizational growth and everyday life. Gaudet emphasizes, “Sales is a set of skills, but unfortunately, it’s not often directly taught. Whether negotiating with our children or pitching ideas to future employers, sales skills are invaluable.” By supporting this program, RLS Logistics aims to cultivate a new generation of skilled sales professionals who can thrive in any industry.
This commitment comes at an exciting time for RLS Logistics as it prepares to establish its new headquarters in Glassboro. With approximately 35 team members relocating to its modern office space, RLS Logistics is poised to further integrate into the local community and strengthen its partnership with Rowan University.
Looking ahead, both RLS Logistics and Rowan University anticipate significant growth opportunities stemming from this collaboration. Kalliny envisions expanded partnerships with local businesses to offer additional activities such as sales competitions, internships, and the potential establishment of a dedicated sales center.
